ROME — A  thief wearing a motorcycle helmet robbed the Turin Road Mart in Rome’s outer district Tuesday evening and is now wanted by law enforcement, according to the New York State Police.

The thief entered the convenience store on Turin Road market at about 6 p.m. Tuesday wearing a black rain jacket and a red and white motorcycle helmet, authorities said. The thief demanded money from the clerk and made a gun motion with his hand in his pocket, troopers said.

No actual gun was displayed.

The suspect then fled the store and drove off in a black Dodge Ram pickup truck with no license plates, troopers stated. He is described as a white male, about 5 to 6-feet tall, with an average build.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information on the robbery is asked to call state police at 315-366-6000.
